The One-Person Business Model

Craft vision, harvest success, relish living. That's my motto. That's my value proposition. If you were to go to my website - those are the vibes.

Success defies intuition, and that motto has driven the most growth in my life.

After carefully crafting my life’s vision it has caused me to want to spend less of my time working. I’ve been forcing myself to try to work less and build solutions so that I can work less rather than just say it’s impossible to work 2 to 4 hours a day.

People will say “Work is supposed to be at least 8 hours a day”. I say, no, I can work as much as I want to if I build the systems that allow me to do that.

Also, it's obvious that working less leads to higher quality rest or at least more rest, which naturally leads to higher quality work. Myself and others in my community (IRL and Online) that are committed to this four-hour workday philosophy are usually producing better work than most of the people that are working 10…12..16 hour days.

The characterization of the “hustle hard” and the “grind don't stop” entrepreneur is a bit too promoted on social media.

Determining what constitutes "earning more" is subjective, as it hinges on each individual's perception of what qualifies as "more" or "enough." In my view, while many aspire to increase their income, the desire is often to achieve this while engaging in activities they find fulfilling. That’s why this principle stands as another guiding rule in my life.

Another rule I have for myself is the necessity to actively build. I realize that I have to create opportunities for myself rather than passively waiting for them to materialize. To feel fulfilled, I recognize the importance of constructing a path where I can work less and not be so entitled to expect it to spontaneously happen for me.

While the concept of earning more remains subjective, I firmly believe that with dedication, determination, and unwavering consistency, anyone can pursue their passions and generate a substantial income from them over time.

Why not?

The last part of the motto is “relish living” or “enjoy life”. That is usually a byproduct of both working less, resting more, earning more, and simply having the time and location freedom to be able to do what you choose to do with your life. That's what I'm all about. It's so bizarre when I see people in the comments challenging this notion.

It’s frustrating because I just want to yell “DUDE” do you really believe that you have no control over your life? Of course, you're not going to have it all right now after reading this post or watching my videos. Yes, it takes some time. I could go on about this all day, but just believe in yourself. As simple as that sounds - try to find a way to work towards a better future for yourself. However, I am reminded daily that this is why the solopreneur space exists and the opportunities are here for the taking. It’s primarily because there are too many people in the world stuck thinking just like this.

But the thing is, I also fell into the trap of wanting to live the life of other people. Back in 2017 I bought a beach front condo in the Dominican Republic with views of the ocean and access to the countryside. Every day my feet were in the sand, and I was sipping coconuts on the beach while working from my laptop.

While I actually think this is great, who wants to do that forever? It gets old very quickly especially with a growing family and a growing business. When you're trying to work on the beach and you can't even see your screen because of the glare from the sun and it gets too hot and you have to reapply sunscreen and adjust your umbrella and chair and you're saying to yourself or even out loud, I'm just thirsty and hot at this point. I want to go home.

You realize after all of that you would rather just be inside working. Sometimes you need to try things on for size and go through trial and error to understand what you want. You have to figure out what you don't want in order to figure out what you want. But you have to understand that the glamor and the different lifestyles that people promote, it’s all for dopamine - theirs and yours.

Once you set your sights on something you desire and eventually attain it, failure to appreciate and integrate it into your life will lead to its swift fading. The Wi-Fi connection in those areas gets old, the partying and the language barrier and doing the things that you see on social media as a highlight reel. They really do get old. So, the purpose of this video, I want to talk about moderation and sustainability, because we just talked about how some of those things, or at least the glamorous things, are not truly sustainable.

So, I want to present a business model that allows you to create your ideal lifestyle through practice, experimentation and iteration.

It's a way to make a creative income source with your skills, interests and expertise. But it's not limited to people that already have those things. In today's business landscape, with the prevalence of social media and the accessibility of the internet, startup costs are low. You can share your offerings online without spending a dime and offer valuable services such as freelance work, consulting, or coaching calls, even if you're just starting out. Over time, you can refine and expand these offerings as you accumulate experience.

Indeed, the emergence of this new business model, fueled by technological advancements, represents a significant shift in how people generate income. This modern approach to business, leveraging social media and digital platforms to offer products and services, is relatively nascent but undoubtedly here to stay.

Those who choose to pursue this path are tapping into a dynamic and expanding market fueled by evolving consumer preferences and technological innovation.

The education industry is expected to grow significantly over the next 10 years, with projections indicating a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of around 10% globally.  Understand that I am an educator. Whether I like to label myself as that or not. Every single person on YouTube that is a value creator rather than an entertainment creator is an educator. They are teachers. This is a new method of education that college and formal institutions cannot keep up with because their curriculum cannot be updated to match something that isn't going to put them into a job because the school system, corporations and the government are all on one accord – they need workers. They are cross training people for each other at different stages of their lives. So, the Internet threatens that because it gives the individual the power to make a creative income on their own.

The education available from individuals on social media and course platforms and the web at-large has reached a point where the school system just can't keep up. So that power is completely in your hands.

If you do not value self-reliance or personal responsibility or simply taking control of your own life, then this isn't for you – yet, until you come to the realization that if you want true happiness, those are going to have to become values of yours. So, if you're reading this or listening to this, I'm assuming that you are between 18 and 40 years old.

I see you if you're like 40 or 50, and you're trying to get into this space! That's awesome - Much respect to you! But the 18 to 40 demographic is where the lion share of my readers and viewers are. Now, the problem is that most people don't see those 18 to 35 years as past experience that they can leverage to help other people. You haven't self-reflected enough to see your own value in the problems you've overcome and that you are genuinely equipped with information that can help other people.

So, the first thing is that you don't think you have enough experience. The second thing is that you think you're too boring. You think your life's too boring, but this feeling has been caused by social media and the comparisons that ultimately come with that domain. With regards to what I was talking about earlier with the glamorous lifestyle is you don't need a glamorous lifestyle to do this stuff. You need to be interested enough to make your interests interesting to other people.

I always recommend starting with writing, like Twitter, newsletter, blog, even YouTube. You don't even need to put your face on the account. You don't have to do any of that.

Stop letting limiting beliefs stop you in your tracks.

The first thing I said at the beginning of this letter is that if you want to accomplish something, then you need to build a solution in order to accomplish it.

If you want to start a business without having to show your body, then build a business without having to show your body. It's that simple. Stop convincing yourself otherwise. Stop telling yourself that you can't do something because you're not doing it like everyone else. And from my experience, the highest paid individuals aren't the ones with the looks and glamor.

Those people are banking on sponsorships and other deals – and while much of it is out of their control, they're not making very much money at what they are doing.

I know that the people that make the most money are the generalists. They aren't one dimensional, they're multidimensional because they're the generalists that hire the specialists. Everyone tells you to become a specialist. That's the worst thing you can do. Why? Because specialists mean that you do X, Y, Z, you go ABC, you do a specific thing, and that is just primed for automation or another AI solution.

You are not a robot. “I perform this specific task with this specific skill” - that's exactly how you get automated! You need to be a generalist and be able to move artfully and gracefully within a specific domain of interest that you have.

A good rule of thumb to go by is if you work like a robot, then you are a robot and you will be outsourced to robots and your job will be replaced.

A human being should be able to change a diaper, plan an invasion, butcher a hog, conn a ship, design a building, write a sonnet, balance accounts, build a wall, set a bone, comfort the dying, take orders, give orders, cooperate, act alone, solve equations, analyze a new problem, pitch manure, program a computer, cook a tasty meal, fight efficiently, die gallantly. Specialization is for insects.

That is a quote from Robert Heinlein.

So even more of a problem than not seeing your own personal experience as valuable is ineffective communication because that's all people on social media are doing is just effective and persuasive communication to make their own interests valuable and interesting, or at least perceived as valuable and interesting to other people.

The skill that you have to master is effective writing communication and also effective thinking, because writing is how you clarify your thoughts. The one-person business model has always appealed to me over having employees. A simple website as a storefront, a digital product stack with high profit margins, four-hour workdays, control over what you work on and who you work with and potential $1 million years.

That lifestyle is hard to beat. The one-person business in my eyes is for those that value self-reliance, time freedom and location freedom, sovereignty, autonomy.

The idea and possibility of being able to do what you want and having enough money to do so while impacting the world and having a purpose behind your life is an exhilarating feeling.

Building an audience and community through social media is a powerful strategy for one-person businesses (solopreneurs) and freelancers alike. By cultivating a following of like-minded individuals who resonate with their message, values, and expertise, solopreneurs can establish trust and credibility within their niche.

This audience serves as a valuable asset for the future, providing leverage for various opportunities such as:

  1. Marketing: Solopreneurs can promote their products or services to their audience without relying solely on traditional advertising methods. Their engaged followers are more likely to be receptive to their offers.

  1. Feedback and Validation: The audience can provide valuable feedback on new ideas, products, or services, helping solopreneurs refine their offerings to better meet the needs of their community.

  1. Brand Building: Consistently engaging with their audience helps solopreneurs strengthen their brand identity and establish themselves as authorities in their field. This can lead to increased visibility and recognition within the industry.

  1. Monetization Opportunities: Solopreneurs can monetize their audience through various means, such as selling digital products, offering online courses or coaching services, hosting webinars or events, or even through affiliate marketing partnerships.

By focusing on building a genuine connection with their audience and providing valuable content and offers, solopreneurs can effectively use social media as a tool to drive traffic, generate leads, and ultimately grow their business.

No-code tools are becoming increasingly popular among solopreneurs and small businesses as they offer an efficient and cost-effective way to build and manage various aspects of their online presence, including websites, content hosting, newsletters, and social media management.

These tools empower individuals with little to no coding experience to create sophisticated digital solutions without the need to hire expensive developers or technical experts. They often come with intuitive drag-and-drop interfaces and pre-built templates, allowing users to quickly build and customize their online assets to suit their needs.

Examples of no-code tools include website builders like Wix, Squarespace, and WordPress with plugins like Elementor or Divi, social media schedulers like Buffer or Hootsuite, email marketing platforms like Mailchimp or ConvertKit, and many others.

By leveraging these tools, solopreneurs can streamline their operations, automate repetitive tasks, and focus more on value-adding activities such as content creation, community engagement, and product development. This not only increases efficiency but also reduces overhead costs, making it a practical solution for businesses of all sizes.

For instance, social media managers as a whole are going to be outsourced to software that can do those repetitive tasks at a much cheaper price. That is how outsourcing works. Eventually outsourcing will be cheaper than hiring a human and that is precisely when you lose your job. A smart business owner that wants to stay in business is not going to pay you 10x a robot that can do the same thing as you.

This paradigm shift is creating abundant opportunities for individuals, solopreneurs, and one-person businesses to streamline their operations effortlessly. By leveraging automation tools and outsourcing tasks to software solutions, entrepreneurs can relinquish mundane responsibilities and focus on infusing their unique creativity and vision into their ventures. This approach not only facilitates the seamless management of every facet of their business but also enables them to cultivate a thriving enterprise with minimal hands-on involvement. Furthermore, lifestyle design emerges as a pivotal component of the one-person business model, empowering entrepreneurs to craft a work-life balance that aligns with their personal aspirations and values.

If you work for someone else, you have a manager, they manage you, but when you work for yourself, you manage yourself. You can sleep in until 10am or until 1pm - but are you going to get your work done? If you can get your work done, how are you going to systematize that? How are you going to structure your days for both maximum productivity and maximum creativity?

How are you going to design the life that you want to live through? Trial error, experimentation and just self-reflection and understanding the problems that are blocking your quality of life. So, you have to understand as well that there is no saturation in a one-person business, because if it is a one person business, it means it evolves with you.

I used to sell investment products and other digital products - I no longer sell them because I evolved. This shift allowed me to explore different opportunities and offerings, ultimately leading to the creation of a new venture. However, by moving on from selling investment products, I effectively desaturated that particular market. This decision was driven by the limitations inherent in the one-person business model, where my capacity to take on new ventures is finite.

Big Picture - It’s everyone taking their piece of the pie by doing what they truly enjoy? And if everyone did that, you would have to understand that every single interest, every single person is going to study different interests. They're going to explore the crevice of our natural world that they are the most curious about and distill their learnings to the people that want to learn about those things. So, if every single person was authentic and honest with what they wanted to pursue and their ability to monetize that, they would either begin their journey as a solopreneur or find another small group of entrepreneurs with an existing business to work with.

Let's imagine you're passionate about fitness and want to establish a business centered around personal training and nutrition coaching. While mastering exercise techniques and dietary principles is crucial, it's equally important to broaden your knowledge beyond these areas. For instance, you might delve into sports psychology to understand the mental aspects of training, explore marketing strategies tailored to the fitness industry, or study consumer behavior to identify trends in health and wellness.

By expanding your expertise beyond the obvious, you can develop a holistic approach to health and fitness that resonates with your target audience. Instead of solely focusing on mainstream topics like weight loss or muscle gain, you might explore niche areas such as functional fitness for seniors or mindfulness practices for athletes. This multidisciplinary approach not only enriches your understanding of fitness but also allows you to offer specialized services that cater to specific needs within the market.

Ultimately, the key lies in embracing diversity and embracing your unique blend of interests and skills. By cultivating a broad spectrum of knowledge and expertise, you can carve out a niche for yourself in the competitive fitness industry and provide value in ways that go beyond conventional training programs. So, don't limit yourself to the obvious; instead, explore new avenues of learning and leverage your individuality to create a thriving business that reflects your passion and expertise.

It's easy to fall into the trap of thinking that everyone is immersed in the same topics as you are. Whether it's fitness, self-improvement, home improvement, trucking, supplements, it may seem like these fields dominate everyone's interests. However, the reality is quite different. The perception that these topics are ubiquitous often stems from the fact that you're interested in those things and you're following the 500 to 700 people that talk about those things all day long. That's all in your brain.

You haven't broken out of that bubble, and that's understandable because exploring your interests is part of the journey. However, it's essential to recognize that true learning and growth come from venturing beyond familiar territory. By daring to explore new subjects and cultivating your unique perspective, you not only expand your own horizons but your knowledge and understanding.

Schools often provide a structured curriculum, but they can't match the depth and authenticity that comes from individual exploration and discovery. By immersing yourself in diverse experiences and viewpoints, you have the opportunity to educate others in ways that resonate more deeply and authentically. Your unique perspective is a valuable asset, capable of enriching the lives of those around you in ways that traditional education systems often cannot.

So, there are two paths to starting a one-person business with zero experience. And first, I want you to stop thinking of business as some like a billion-dollar company or something like that. Business is what you do. Business is your life's work. Business is the vessel to create your ideal lifestyle while impacting the world at large. So, money is a modern byproduct of living with purpose and passing down your teachings.

Leaving Vanguard to join a small boutique investment firm as the 42nd employee was one of the most impactful decisions of my life. The contrast between the vast organization of 18,000 employees at Vanguard and the intimate environment of the boutique firm was immense. However, this leap of faith proved to be transformative. It was in this smaller setting that I discovered invaluable insights about business—lessons that I couldn't have learned elsewhere.

Business is self-actualization and self-transcendence. I like to think of business as a vessel for that. There are various mindfulness techniques and spiritual practices, including Zen techniques, aimed at achieving self-actualization or enlightenment. It's essential not to become ideological or dogmatic about one specific method for achieving a particular outcome. Instead, it's about finding what works best for you. For me, business serves as that method—a path toward personal growth and fulfillment. For me, business serves as a platform for self-expression, a journey of mindfulness, and a tool for crystallizing my thoughts through writing and sharing meaningful messages with the world.

Now, let's address the topic of experience and imposter syndrome. It's important to emphasize that expertise isn't solely defined by formal qualifications or years in a specific field. If you can effectively teach a friend about a topic you're currently learning—whether from social media, school, or elsewhere—then you possess valuable experience and knowledge worth sharing.

You're already doing the work. Now, you just need to do it in public.

The first path is skill based. This is the one that most people take where the common advice is learn a skill, sell a skill, teach a skill, however you would organize those from 1 to 3. While this is great, you don't want to end up one dimensional.

Selling only one skill leaves you vulnerable to automation and limits your growth potential. While it's a solid starting point, you need to strive for diversification and evolution. Otherwise, you risk becoming a freelancer stuck in a cycle of precarious income, always on the edge of losing clients without a backup plan or leverage. Building an audience provides the flexibility to pivot and pursue evolving interests, ensuring continued growth and adaptation over time.

The path I like is development based. The development path is based around the four eternal markets. The eternal markets are where most people are trying to achieve lofty goals, but there are many problems in the way of those goals. That's where the most money is made. Those are the profitable burning problems that people have.

The four eternal markets are health, wealth, relationships and happiness.

With the first path, by choosing a marketable skill that usually only pays attention to wealth. However, with path two, it's built for the business of you, the one-person business, because you literally pursue your own goals, which is your brand. You solve your own problems as you are pursuing those goals by researching your curiosities that allow you to achieve those goals faster, which is the content of the information and the value that you're passing down.

By creating a system to replicate your success, you're engaging in profound self-reflection. You ask yourself, "How could I have done this better? How did I achieve my current results? How can I help other people step by step in a faster way?" Using these insights, you devise a step-by-step approach to accelerate others' progress towards similar outcomes. In essence, you contribute to the advancement of human evolution, facilitating rapid evolution, actualization, and transcendence for those you assist.

That's why I see business as a vessel for self-actualization and even spirituality and self-transcendence. The system, that step by step system is your offer or your product. That is how you be yourself, improve yourself and profit off of yourself.

You must pay attention to where you are now, where you're going and how you're going to get there. At this point, perhaps you haven’t made any money yet. So, how do you position your content or your product? How do you position or what perspective are you giving about yourself? So how do people perceive you?

Don't write a post on how to make $1,000,000 in three days. Write a post saying - “Here's how I'm going to make $2,000,000 in five years”. Seriously! Then you give out your plan and then people follow along because you are a leader then and people follow leaders. You are positioning yourself as a leader.

You are helping people achieve the goals that you were trying to achieve. And you're essentially leaving breadcrumbs along the way.

Path three encompasses both skill development and personal growth. This approach is inherent in the early stages of starting out, particularly when you're learning new skills rapidly. For instance, if you choose social media as your primary traffic generation tool, you'll need to acquire skills such as designing an eye-catching profile picture and banner, crafting compelling biographies, and mastering the art of writing engaging social media posts. This blend of skill acquisition and personal development forms the foundation for success in the entrepreneurial journey.

As you build your business, you're simultaneously developing valuable skills that can be monetized along the way. For instance, you could offer services such as Twitter ghostwriting, Instagram post creator, video editor, or banner designer. These skills not only enhance your own business but also position you to offer freelance services to others, allowing you to start monetizing your expertise early in your entrepreneurial journey.

By applying your skills to your own business and achieving tangible results, you're not only building a successful venture but also gaining valuable real-world experience. This hands-on approach allows you to understand how to apply your skills effectively in a business context, ensuring that you can deliver meaningful results to clients when offering freelance services.

You build your own website; you build your own landing page. Maybe you build a landing page for an affiliate product to see how good you are at copywriting, because then you don't even have to create the product. Then you can offer selling landing pages for $1000 to $2000 to other creators.

What I'm saying here is all you have to do is “JUST START”.

Let's go over the four pillars of the one-person business.

First, we have the experience model, where you essentially embody every aspect of your business. You are your customer avatar, your brand, your niche, your content, your offer—everything. Here, self-awareness and self-reliance become paramount, serving as your greatest assets in navigating this entrepreneurial journey.

In essence, those who excel in the one-person business model are the ones who take ownership of their future and actively assist others in achieving their goals. To simplify the concept of the one-person business, consider this: your goals become your brand. What you aspire to achieve in life and the direction you're leading others toward define your brand and guide your entrepreneurial journey.

Indeed, the challenges hindering your progress toward your goals become the content you share. Identifying the obstacles your followers may face and providing solutions to overcome them serves as the foundation of your content strategy. While there's more complexity to crafting compelling content, this serves as an excellent starting point. Furthermore, the systems you develop to address these challenges evolve into the products or services you offer to your audience.

So how can they solve their problems faster? Because that's what people want. The essence of your marketing lies in articulating how your journey has transformed your life and how it can do the same for your audience. Communicating the benefits of your message is paramount. Why should they invest their time and attention? Why should they engage with your content? Every aspect of your journey, every insight gained, every obstacle overcome, contributes to a compelling narrative that resonates with your audience. This benefits-driven approach, rooted in persuasive language, is fundamental to effective marketing strategies.

Leveraging your own experiences and solutions to your problems not only benefits you but also serves as a blueprint for helping others. By addressing your own challenges and finding effective solutions, you not only enhance your own life but also create valuable content and products that resonate with your audience. This authenticity and problem-solving approach are key components of building a successful one-person business. Sharing these insights and solutions through your landing pages and other platforms reinforces your credibility and attracts like-minded individuals seeking similar transformations.

You pursue a goal; you solve your own problems. You teach others how you did it, and that's your business! While this concept may seem oversimplified, it's crucial to understand and apply these foundational principles. It involves testing, experimenting, and gaining unique, genuine knowledge through your experiences. Though it may take time, the investment will pay off significantly in the long run. By following this approach, you not only enhance your own life but also create valuable offerings that resonate with your audience and contribute to your business's success.

Branding is the essence of defining your aspirations and communicating them effectively. By owning your branding journey, you harness the power to shape your narrative and make a meaningful impact on those around you. Taking charge of your brand development is crucial as it ensures authenticity and empowerment in your message. Forging your brand begins with clarifying your objectives and crafting a message that encapsulates your mission.

For example, if your aim is to attain $1,000,000, your brand's focus could be on aiding 1000 individuals in reaching the same milestone by 2026. This bold ambition forms the cornerstone of your brand, guiding your endeavors and resonating with your audience. Continuously refining this message is essential, aligning it with your evolving goals and values while maintaining its ability to inspire and attract like-minded individuals.

Who wouldn't want to follow that?

When it comes to content creation, many individuals face the challenge of deciding what to write about. Let me introduce you to a topic that I talk about in Digital Enterprise called The Domain of Mastery. Essentially, you choose three areas of interest—one that has potential for profitability, the second is a category that can encompass nearly any pursuit. That's your priority interest, an interest to excite you. Interest three should be development-based, focusing on areas like psychology, self-improvement, self-development, metaphysics, and philosophy.

These subjects offer insights into the progression patterns of various aspects of life. By applying principles from spirituality, philosophy, and psychology, you can develop a unique perspective on these topics. This multidisciplinary approach allows you to break down complex concepts into fundamental principles, providing valuable insights for your audience.

So, what are the fundamentals? The fundamentals are the principles inherent in each interest that contribute to achieving results aligned with your goal. These principles serve as the foundation for your content creation process. From there, you can break them down into other topics, such as mentors for inspiration and connections between different concepts. By linking these principles to real-world problems, you can provide practical insights and solutions for your audience.

Those are all the starting places that you can start writing or creating content around in a way that is very effective and educational and valuable.

Pillar number three revolves around the offer or product you're creating. Contrary to the traditional mindset that suggests waiting until you're more experienced, you can start monetizing right away. There's no need to delay your income-generating efforts based on arbitrary experience thresholds.

That old gatekeeper mindset suggesting a certain amount of experience before monetizing your service just remember - No, that's just gatekeeping and move right past that. Let's dive deeper into this. How do freelancers kickstart their income streams? They rapidly grasp the fundamentals of a skill and promptly reach out to potential clients for real-world feedback. Delaying income generation based on a perceived lack of experience is simply counterproductive.

They may initially offer their services for free or at a very low cost because their skills aren't refined enough to justify charging $2,000 to $5,000. Then, gradually, they ascend the ladder step by step. The sooner you initiate sales, the sooner you can not only generate income but also begin learning from failures and iterating. Remember, the first product is bound to be subpar.

You have just got to get it out there. Release the imperfect version so you can refine it. The truth is, you're never, ever going to nail it on the first try. That's just the reality. Whether it's launching a digital product, selling a physical item, drop shipping, offering freelance or consulting services, or creating content, the key is to start. Just begin putting your work out there, allowing the initial imperfections to flow out like gunk from a faucet, paving the way for clear water to flow.

Okay, Don, but what do I sell? Alright, let me introduce you to what I call the "minimum viable offer." We've all heard of the minimum viable product, but this concept applies to your entire offering. The minimum viable offer could be a single freelance skill that you sell for $500 to $1000. This could be something like web design, email marketing, or another specialized service. It's not an elaborate package; it's focused on delivering a specific skill set to your clients.

You may not be able to charge $5000 for that initially, but everyone has to start somewhere. Another option is offering a single interest consulting service where you sell a package of four calls for $500 to $1000. Many people get stuck in this mindset, thinking that freelancing means they're just trading time for money. It's as if there is some kind of stigma around freelancing where it's many people feel that they have to spend hours of hours “doing the work”. It’s as if they feel as though they can't just teach people about the subject matter.

As a creator myself, I understand the frustration of paying for work. I prefer investing in consultations where I can learn specific skills or gain insights. If you're launching an education-focused business, steer clear of offering freelance "done for you" services. Instead, focus on providing valuable knowledge and guidance through consulting calls tailored to your clients' needs and interests.

Simply offer consulting calls or a digital product. Think in areas such as health coaching, fitness coaching, performance coaching, mindset coaching, life coaching, or business coaching, you're tapping into broad yet valuable markets. You can further specialize within these areas, delving into submarkets like extreme sports or golf swings. It's all about exploring your domain of mastery and finding what truly resonates with you, allowing you to offer authentic and impactful guidance to your audience.

Indeed, consulting isn't restricted to conventional niches. It's surprising that digital tutoring offers aren't more prevalent. Consider this: if I acquire expertise in web design, offering a series of four calls to teach creators how to craft exceptional websites for themselves is immensely valuable. If I were just starting out, I'd eagerly invest in such an offer.

It's the same thing. I'll get on calls for four weeks with you and teach you how to write compelling emails. I'll teach you how to run Instagram ads. It's a consulting offer and I think those are much better, much more scalable than a freelance offer. Starting with a minimum viable offer allows for immediate monetization.

You can initiate outreach through direct messages, craft a Twitter thread or post for others to share, effectively amplifying your service. With potential views ranging from 1,000 to even a million if it goes viral, you begin generating income through traffic and offers. Starting with this approach allows you to develop a digital product with existing results.

You can teach other people, you can get them results, and you can note the commonalities among your clients and share macro level data about what you're talking about on each call. You package it up into a course e-book, a cohort, something of that nature that you can then switch to. As your audience expands, you can transition away from client work towards digital products, granting you more freedom and flexibility.

Embracing the one-person business model is not just a shift in mindset but a journey towards personal and professional fulfillment. It's about recognizing your own value, leveraging your unique skills and experiences, and ultimately, making a meaningful impact while achieving your goals. Whether you're just starting out or already on your entrepreneurial path, remember that success is not defined by traditional measures alone.

It's about creating a lifestyle that aligns with your aspirations, continuously learning and evolving, and finding joy in the process of building something of value. So, dare to dream big, take action, and embark on this empowering journey of self-discovery and growth. Your journey as a one-person business owner awaits, filled with endless possibilities and opportunities to make a difference in the world.
